Constitution


Article I:

The name of the association shall be The Blackburn Ladies Softball Association.

Article II:

The purpose of the association shall be to promote the participation of women in all aspects of ladies recreational softball.

Article III:

Membership in the association shall be open to any women 18 years of age or older (at the start of the season) who wish to play recreational softball and pay the required registration fee.

Article IV:

The registration fee shall be set by the Executive at the last meeting of the previous year or the first meeting of the current year.

Article V: Executive

The Executive of the association shall consist of the following elected officers:

President
Vice-President
Treasurer
Secretary
Social Director
Statistician
Tournament Coordinator
Equipment Manager

The Past-President shall serve for one year, as a non voting member.

All members of the Executive shall be elected for a one year term at the Annual General Meeting.

Any member of the Association may be nominated for a position on the Executive. Those nominated for the position of President must have served in some capacity on the Executive at least once in the past five years.

All nominations for the Executive must be given to the President at least 30 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

The Executive shall have the power to fill any vacancies which may exist.

Each member of the Executive, except the Past President, has the right to vote on any matter at the Executive meetings or at the Annual General Meeting of the Association, except the President.

The President may only vote when it is necessary to break a tie.

Article VI: Executive Meetings

An Executive meeting must be called by the President.

Notice of the meeting shall be given to all members at least one week prior to the date of the meeting.

Each team must be represented by at least one Executive member.

All Executive members present shall be entitled to one vote.

Article VII: Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting must be held within 30 days of the final game of the current season.

A proposed list of amendments to the constitution must be made available to the members one week prior to the Annual General Meeting

All Executive elections will be held at the Annual General Meeting.

Article VIII: Playing Rules

All softball played under the jurisdiction of the Blackburn Ladies Softball Association shall be governed by Softball Canada rules subject to certain amendments set by the Blackburn Ladies Softball Association.

Article IX: By-Laws

The Executive may, from time to time, set, repeal or amend by-laws as is deemed necessary for the conduct of the business of the Association in a manner consistent with this constitution.

Article X: Amendments

This constitution may be amended at the Annual General Meeting by a two-third majority of all votes cast, provided that notice of the proposed amendments be given to the Secretary no later than 2 weeks prior to the Annual General Meeting.
